Make up is no replacement for skin care!

I have seen way too many older women with leathery skin and caked-on makeup, as though they think gobbing on makeup will somehow make their skin look good. No! It doesn't! In some cases it makes it look worse! Take good care of your skin. A good skin care program and healthy diet are essential. No amount of makeup will ever replace this.

Don't smoke and don't drink to excess! Smoking turns your skin to leather, like smoking a ham in a smoke house. Ugh! It's one thing to have a couple of cigs when you go out, but more than, say, five or ten per year is a bad idea. I love a martini as much as the next girl (Mmmm, Bombay Sapphire!), but too many of them dry you out. Keep yourself to no more than a couple of drinks when you go out. Most of all, don't drink cheap stuff! It has impurities that the good quality liquors don't have.

A good martini:
  • 3 jiggers of Bombay Sapphire gin
  • 1/2 jigger of Martini & Rossi dry vermouth
Shake well in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a twist of lime peel. Add a cocktail onion to make it a Gibson martini, if you prefer.
