Marie Anntoinette

My honey and I went to see Marie Antoinette Saturday night. It was odd. I sorta' liked it. I loved the music, but director Sophia Coppola didn't go all the way with it, which made it not work for me. There was still maybe 1/3 period correct music in it. It also felt plotless. This happens to Marie, Marie does this thing, Marie goes here. It just seemed like there was no central driving force behind the action. The costuming was great! Many beautiful dresses and shoes by the Maestro Manolo Blahnik! I loved Marie's corset that she wore from Austria! The pattern of the fabric was gorgeous!

Over all I'm glad I saw it, but I don't need to see it again. Of course my honey didn't like it at all.

A short piece

Deepest Sender sucks and ate my post on Wired's six word stories, wherein I mentioned that I was going to start writing some very short stories and poems myself. Here's one.

She sat at her desk, turned slightly to stare out the window. "I'm tired" she thought. "I'm so glad it's Friday." Fifteen minutes more would see her making her way homeward where she would meet her adoring husband to have a quiet dinner together. She would probably make lamb and accompany it with a merlot.

And there was much rejoicing!

Lab created diamonds are becoming much cheaper!

This one looks like something Queen Elizabeth the 1st might have worn. Maybe my honey will buy me one... although yellow's really not a good color for me.

Even better!

I bought Portishead's second album, self titled Portishead, for myself for the Feast this year. What have I been doing for nine years? Yikes! It's awesome! It's better than their first album, Dummy. Which, wow! it makes me feel ancient that it's been out for nine years! I was 25 when it was released.

Mars in a Saturn in Neptune!

The third season of Veronica Mars premiered last night with new opening titles including a new version of the theme song. Veronica is now a college freshman. Veronica now has a silver Saturn Vue, courtesy her dad's fee from helping Kendall with something to do with large sums of cash. The writing in this episode definitely had Rob Thomas' stamp on it. It felt a little uneven.

I wish I'd had one of these for my wedding

Via Manolo for the Brides:

I like this idea. This would make a great keepsake from your wedding. Though some of these are kinda' tacky. A lot of brides like to show off their garters. Lots of them feature pets, professional, and hobby items. At least three of them in the gallery feature guns! One bride has a gun on her garter and she's wearing combat boots! I think she's a cop. She's handcuffed to her groom and leading him forward.

They're pretty expensive though, starting at $2300 for a couple with bouquet.
